Frank Skinner Finally Ties the Knot After Four Rejections

Frank Skinner Marries Cath Mason After 24 Years Together

Comedian Frank Skinner has announced that he and his long-term partner, Cath Mason, have married after 24 years together.

The couple, who have been in a relationship since 2001, tied the knot in a private ceremony at Camden Town Hall. Their 12-year-old son, Buzz, served as their sole witness. HuffPost

Skinner shared the news during an episode of his podcast, Frank Off The Radio, on Friday morning. He revealed that the wedding was a spontaneous decision, saying,

“You’ll never guess what I did on Monday, I got married,” and added, “Don’t be offended, we didn’t invite anyone.” Cath, known for her strong preferences, insisted on a no-frills wedding: no guests, no church, no ring, and no traditional white dress.

Skinner humorously recounted their wedding planning, including Cath’s conditions, such as not changing her name or wearing a ring, citing a dislike for jewelry and feeling trapped.

Revealing how the low-key wedding came about, he continued: “I said to Cath, ‘Will you marry me?’ and she said ‘I’m not having a f***ing party! I don’t want a load of guests. I’m not going in a church. I don’t want a ring. I’m not wearing a stupid f****ing white dress’.

Instead of a white dress, Skinner says “she wore a flowery dress” and they walked down the aisle to Lie Dream Of a Casino Soul by The Fall as the Manchester post-punk group “meant so much to me and Cath when we were in our early days”.

He says Mason also kept her own name and does not wear a ring now that they are married.

He confirmed that their only witness was their son Buzz, who was born in 2012, and that the marriage took place at Camden Town Hall.

He also mentioned that Cath had previously turned down four of his marriage proposals, likely due in part to her views on marriage shaped by her parents’ divorce.

The couple welcomed their son, Buzz Cody, in 2012 when Skinner was 55 years old. He announced the birth on his Absolute Radio show, revealing that they named their son after astronaut Buzz Aldrin.

Skinner explained, “Now I know celebrity types get condemned for giving their babies unusual names. So this is the name that I went for. He’s called Buzz B-U-Z-Z. If you’re my age, obviously he’s after Buzz Aldrin, the second man on the moon. For you youngsters listening, yes, it’s that puppet from Toy Story.” The Sun+3Metro+

Throughout their relationship, Skinner and Mason have maintained a relatively private life. Skinner has occasionally shared insights into their partnership, describing it as “very volatile” in the early years but noting that they have worked through challenges together.

He mentioned that they sought counseling, which he found beneficial. Despite the ups and downs, Skinner has expressed his deep affection for Mason, stating, “I always knew I didn’t want to be with anyone else.”

The couple’s decision to marry in such a low-key manner reflects their desire for privacy and simplicity. By choosing a small ceremony with only their son present, they have kept the focus on their commitment to each other rather than on public attention.

Fans and well-wishers have expressed their congratulations to the couple, celebrating their long-lasting relationship and recent marriage. Skinner’s announcement has been met with warmth and support, highlighting the couple’s enduring bond and the joy they find in their family life.

In the coming weeks, Skinner is expected to continue his work in comedy and broadcasting, with his personal life remaining a cherished aspect of his journey. His marriage to Cath Mason marks a significant milestone in their shared life, and fans look forward to seeing how their relationship continues to evolve.
